Announcements / Newsletters Module

This system is a combination of two modules: an announcement archive and a newsletter system. The admin has the ability to create announcements via the admin area. An announcement consists of a date, subject line, and body. These announcements are automatically posted to the announcement archive page. At the same time, they are also posted to an area of the home page (such as a "What's New?" area.) This area can show the last 10 announcements or the announcements from the past 7 days or whatever is desired.

In addition to the announcements, there is a newsletter signup area on the page that collects a name and email address from anyone who signs up. When the admin creates an announcement, he/she can check a box to also send the announcement to the list of users subscribed to the list. Note that a link is automatically added to automatically unsubscribe (so that the admin needn't deal with unsubscribe complaints manually). The email will be formatted in a specially created template that matches your site (but that has functional components and other aspects of your site that would present compatibility issues) stripped out of it. The result is an email that carries your look and feel and branding-far superior to text and even simple HTML formatted emails!
